Academic, Research and Professional Experience:

Athanasia Kazantzi holds a Degree (5-year program with integrated master) in Civil Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace, an MSc -with distinction- in Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield and a PhD from the University of Surrey. Following the completion of her PhD studies in three years, she worked as a Civil Engineer in Greece and abroad. Furthermore, she worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham whereas she has also taught several undergraduate modules in Greek Universities. Since 2024, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the International Hellenic University, in the field of “Seismic performance of Steel Structures”.

She has participated in various National, European and International research projects, funded by prestigious organisations (e.g. Applied Technology Council, Global Earthquake Model Foundation, EU Research Council Executive Agency). Her research work has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as in national and international conferences.
