MAKEDONIA (SKG) airport at Thessaloniki (ΘΕΣΣΑΛΟΝΙΚΗ) is the closest international airport to the city of Serres (ΣΕΡΡΕΣ)

There is a bus service, approximately every 30 minutes, that links the airport (located south-east of the city) with the Intercity Bus Terminal (located at the other end, on the north-west part of the city- KTEL (ΚΤΕΛ) is the acronym in Greek).

Route to Intercity Bus Terminal

The route (taking into account varying traffic) lasts from 45-60 minutes. It is advisable to check with traffic apps (i.e. Moovit). The ticket costs € 2 , you can buy it on board with cash (coins: the machine does not return change!) or from the ticket counter next to the bus stop (it operates during the day time).

On arrival at the Intercity Bus Terminal, the Serres Intercity Line is located in the main building. Each destination is served by a different counter. You must find the counter labeled: Serres (ΣΕΡΡΕΣ), where you can purchase your ticket (credit cards are accepted). One-way ticket costs € 9. Ask at the desk to verify the departure time and platform (announcements are in Greek).

Arrival at Serres

The trip to Serres, depending on the bus timetable, lasts from 1 to 1,5 hours. The Intercity Bus Terminal at Serres is located very close to the campus, within walking distance. However, while carrying luggage it is recommended to take a taxi ( the charge will be €4 - €5, which is the minimum charge). On arrival at the campus gate please notify the security personnel that you are a new incoming Erasmus student. Provisions will have been made for keys, etc. The taxi can leave you inside the campus, in front of the Dormitory.
